Making therapy a priority is a necessary part of the practice, however with never ending commitments and packed schedules it’s sometimes difficult to do. Having therapy sessions via Skype makes it easier to fit sessions into a packed schedule. The work is as meaningful and deep and transformative on Skype as it is in the office!
— Anna, client in weekly Skype therapy for five years

Our experience with Susan has been nothing short of transformational. I have found her to be remarkably insightful and understanding, while at the same time challenging. My son has formed a very special bond with her as he is very comfortable in her presence…

Susan worked with me and my children during a very difficult period in our lives. She took her time with the kids, allowing them to become comfortable with her and the setting. Her subtle, but effective, techniques made the sessions seem more like visiting with a friend than with a counselor.

In the 30 years that I’ve known and worked with Susan, what has always struck me most about her teaching is her ability to build incredible technique and vocal health in her students, while at the same time getting to the core of the dramatic and emotional work absolutely essential for success as a singing artist.

In the chaos of everyday family life I somehow lost who I was as an individual. Susan helped me find that person again. I can’t thank her enough!

After my Skype session, I can stay in a quiet space and allow my insights, feelings, thoughts and learnings to settle and become absorbed with less distraction and less disturbance…

I started working with Susan because I intuitively felt that singing was at the mind-body intersection and I wanted to work on my self-expression at both a mental and body level. Susan has a keen ear for when the voice is “stuck” and not freely expressed, and that combined with her knowledge of the interplay between the mind, emotions, body and the mechanics of voice, has really helped me free up my self-expression and find my own voice, both literally and figuratively. Through a combination of vocal exercises, breathing and singing songs (my favorite!), I’m learning to be more skillful at “letting go” and riding the breath. Susan is also fantastic at talking through any psychological issues that come up in the course of the singing. This mental and physical relaxation has enabled me to be more comfortable in my own skin in my daily life and as a plus, singing is totally liberating and fun. I always breathe better and feel lighter after a lesson.

Susan’s voice technique gave me freedom in my singing voice I had
never experienced before. She approaches the work from many directions—physical, intellectual, emotional, and visual—to discover the organic instrument, understanding that different means speak to different students. She works with students as individuals to unearth the truest and most versatile voice possible!
